POSITION SUMMARY

Job description

Seeking a seasoned senior technical project manager (PM) for UC Investments' IT Initiatives spanning multiple platforms and technologies.

The role serves as a representative across business and various IT teams, ensuring successful delivery of complex, cross functional projects.

This PM supports UC Investments not only by leading formal IT projects but also by managing ongoing operational initiatives that enhance business processes, systems, and service delivery.

In addition to applying project management rigor, the PM collaborates closely with UC Investments stakeholders to scope, prioritize, and execute operational enhancements that may not follow a traditional project lifecycle.

The Project Manager serves as a trusted partner to the business, helping bridge gaps between IT and UC Investments to drive alignment with strategic priorities.

This role is responsible for tracking progress, fostering continuous improvements, and coordinating efforts across internal IT, UCOP, UC investments, external vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders. The PM delivers sustainable, incremental enhancements in key areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and other enterprise-level technologies.

This role requires a proven leader with at least 9 years of hands-on project management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead complex initiatives across diverse technical and business domains. The ideal candidate brings a track record of successfully managing high-performing teams, collaborating with external vendors, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders to drive results. Strong communication, organizational agility, and execution discipline are essential for navigating a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

Education
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (IT, IS, Computer Science, Security, or related field)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Prior experience in higher education, especially within University of California institutions
