Your Role:Senior Associate - Analytical Development

As a Senior Associate in Analytical Development, you will be a key laboratory-based member of the Synthetic Molecule Technical Development (Syn.TD) group. You will work at the bench, playing a crucial role in the analytical testing and characterization of Elanco's small molecule portfolio from early-stage through late-stage development. Collaborating closely with our formulation team, you will plan and execute complex analytical experiments, providing critical data that informs and guides the development of new animal health medicines. In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to present data, contribute to scientific discussions, and enhance your skills in a cross-functional environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Execute Analytical Testing:Independently perform complex analytical testing (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, Dissolution, KF) for Elanco's small molecule portfolio, ensuring data integrity and adherence to GxP standards.

  • Method Development & Qualification:Assist in the development, qualification, and validation of fit-for-purpose analytical methods to support product development from early to late stages.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting:Meticulously document, analyze, and interpret analytical data, including verifying the work of others, authoring technical reports, and presenting findings to cross-functional project teams.

  • Laboratory Operations & Compliance:Maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment by managing equipment, reagents, and documentation, while also troubleshooting instrument issues and contributing to laboratory investigations.

  • Collaboration & Training:Partner effectively with the formulation team and other groups to support project goals, and provide technical training and coaching to fellow analysts to enhance team capabilities.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.

  • Experience:A Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree with 5-6 years of experience in a pharmaceutical analytical laboratory.

  • Technical Skills:Strong working knowledge of analytical chemistry with demonstrated experience using core techniques such as HPLC/UPLC, Karl Fischer titration, and dissolution.

  • GMP & Documentation:Knowledge of GxP regulations and experience with good documentation practices, including the use of an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Direct experience in small molecule or animal health product development.

  • Proven experience authoring analytical method procedures, validation protocols, or technical reports.

  • Familiarity with analytical software such as Empower and electronic document/quality management systems like Veeva QDocs or Veeva QMS.

  • Demonstrated ability to present technical data clearly to cross-functional teams.

  • An adaptable and flexible mindset with strong independent problem-solving skills.
