Assistant Girls Flag Football Coach
Location: West High School
Split Stipend: $2,572
Position Overview:
The Assistant Girls Flag Football Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the girls' flag football program, fostering an inclusive and positive team environment while promoting the sport's development among student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing practice sessions and game strategies.
- Support the Head Coach in organizing team logistics, including travel arrangements and equipment management.
- Provide individual and group instruction in fundamental skills, techniques, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor and assess the progress of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback.
- Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and respect.
- Assist in conducting tryouts and selecting team members based on skill level and commitment.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings, collaborating closely with athletes, coaches, and parents.
- Ensure compliance with school and league rules, policies, and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and keep current with coaching practices and strategies.
- Assist with game field preparation and secure before and after games.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience or playing experience in flag football or related sports preferred.
- Strong understanding of flag football rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- All required BPS certifications.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to attend practices and games, which may take place in the evenings or on weekends.
- Physical ability to demonstrate skills and participate in practice sessions.
Required Coaches Certificates:
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching: $35.00 - This course is required only once in a coach's career so if you have already taken it, you do not need to take it again.
NFHS Concussion in Sports: Free - 1 year certificate must be renewed by May 1 each year;1 Renewal Unit with processed renewal units form
First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches: $35.00 - 2-year certificate; 3 Renewal Units with processed renewal units form; Can substitute certification from another source.
CPR/AED: Required for High School Coaches; optional for Middle School Coaches.
$10.00 - 2 year certificate; No Renewal Units; Can substitute CPR/AED Certification from another source.
MHSA General and Sports Specific Rules Clinics: Free - must be renewed annually. Required for all coaches.
