They work closely with clients, provide technical support, and ensure their products meet industry standards and regulations. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to influence decision-makers.

A Specification Sales Representative should possess a strong background in technical sales, product knowledge within their industry (such as building materials or electronics), and a proven ability to read and understand specification documents. Familiarity with CRM software, project management tools, and, in some sectors, technical certifications such as LEED accreditation or product-specific training are valuable. Collaboration with internal teams—such as product managers, customer service, and marketing—is common to coordinate customized solutions and support clients through the bidding and post-sale process. Additionally, staying up-to-date on market trends and maintaining detailed records in CRM systems are key aspects of the role. This variety ensures each day is dynamic and focused on building strong professional relationships.
