Job description

PHMC serves as both a direct service provider to individuals, families, and communities across the region and an intermediary agent, managing large-scale contracts, government and philanthropic partnerships, and multidisciplinary initiatives that require operational sophistication, strategic leadership, and deep mission alignment.

Job Overview:

Position Type: Full Time, Exempt

Position: Program Coordinator

Accountability: Tobacco Enforcement and Education Programs Manager

Location: 1500 Market Street; Some travel in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and coordinate expanded merchant education initiatives in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
  • Facilitate regional workgroups focused on judicial education and law enforcement engagement, coordinating subcontractor activities, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring completion of program goals and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with judicial, law enforcement, and other key stakeholders to strengthen understanding, implementation, and enforcement of youth tobacco sales laws.
  • Develop and coordinate training, webinars, educational resources, and technical assistance for retailers, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Research and Evaluation team and other partners to monitor progress, support program evaluation, and contribute to quarterly reporting.
  • Manage and update the Pennsylvania Tobacco Merchant Education website.
  • Represent Health Promotion Council at regional and statewide tobacco control meetings, coalitions, and stakeholder groups.
  • Develop standardized tools, training materials, implementation guides, and best practices to support statewide replication of successful pilot initiatives.
  • Participate in tobacco retailer compliance check activities to strengthen understanding of enforcement operations.

Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in public health, community engagement, education, policy, or a related field, including developing and sustaining partnerships with external stakeholders and coordinating projects involving multiple partners or organizations.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in public health, public policy, communications, criminal justice, or a
    related field preferred.

Other requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and periodically statewide.
