Innovative Sight & Sound is the premier technology integration specialist with 6 locations in the Southeast, specializing in home automation, home theater, lighting systems, motorized shades, networking, and other solutions. 

Position Overview

The Senior System Designer works with location General Managers and other Sales Representatives to take project notes, site plans, and other information to create engineered system plans and quotes. This role bridges design expertise, sales support, and operational efficiency, playing a critical role in project success and revenue growth. You'll work on complex, multi-phase projects in some of the most exclusive residential and commercial properties, collaborating with our internal teams across all locations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: System Design & Documentation

  • Develop detailed system layouts, wiring designs, and engineered drawings for project quotes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Division Managers, Project Managers, and technicians, on product research, quotes, and technical documentation.
  • Integrate A/V, automation, IT/network, and lighting solutions into client-approved designs.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with the criteria and plans from architects, interior designers, electricians, and general contractors as needed to ensure project success.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with field personnel, clients, and other stakeholders regarding the technical aspects of projects.
  • Provide updated design documentation and assist in post-project reviews to improve processes and outcomes.

Sales & Engineering Support

  • Support sales efforts by conceptualizing and creating comprehensive project design packages based on client needs.
  • Build sales quotes in D-Tools Cloud and prepare marked-up plans using CAD or Bluebeam for all divisions (A/V, Lighting & Shades, Electrical).
  • Stay updated on new products, software developments, and best practices through vendor communications and training.

Project Documentation & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain all relevant project documents, including:
  • A/V plans
  • Wire schedules
  • Cabinet/rack drawings
  • Functional schematics
  • Electrical specifications
  • Lighting and shading diagrams
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of project documents to the sales team and project managers.

Qualifications Required: Skills & Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of residential audio/video, automation, security, and networking systems.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or as an audio/video technician is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Control4 systems and other commonly used residential low-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as D-Tools Cloud, CAD, Bluebeam, or Visio.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Home Automation Design: 5+ years of experience with designing & quote building of home automation, control, centralized lighting, A/V, networking, and other sub-systems integrations using Control4, Lutron, etc.  
  • Theater Design: Expertise in equipment configuration and room layout for home theaters.
  • Acoustic Treatments: Understanding of materials and strategies for optimizing sound performance in various environments.
  • Lighting Design & Fixtures: Knowledge of lighting design principles and specifying lighting fixtures.
  • 3D Rendering: Experience creating visual representations of system designs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100k+ yearly opportunity w/ base + commission
    • Base Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year base, paid weekly
    • Monthly Commission: paid monthly
