ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, Brooksource, is seeking an experienced Senior Designer to lead and support detailed design activities for systems and components within industrial and new construction environments. This onsite, contract role in Tampa, FL, involves developing and coordinating design deliverables, reviewing technical documentation, resolving engineering-related issues, and providing technical direction throughout the design and construction process. The Senior Designer will operate independently, make sound technical decisions, and provide leadership to project teams, ensuring design deliverables meet project requirements and timelines. The ideal candidate will have advanced AutoCAD proficiency, strong engineering design experience, and a proven ability to coordinate with engineers, clients, suppliers, contractors, and other disciplines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop, prepare, check, and coordinate designs, design drawings, and technical documents in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and oversee system design deliverables, including discipline-specific drawings, layouts, diagrams, and circuitry designs as applicable.
  • Perform detailed design activities from concept through final deliverables.
  • Review and coordinate vendor design documents to ensure compliance with project and design requirements.
  • Coordinate design activities with engineers, other disciplines, clients, suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance related to design details, drawings, and calculations.
  • Develop scope definition documents and provide input into project schedules.
  • Prepare material takeoffs and review fabrication drawings.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve engineering-related design issues.
  • Provide on-site technical support during construction, startup, and system checkout as needed.
  • Lead design projects and take ownership of assigned deliverables from development through completion.
  • Apply engineering design knowledge and value-added solutions to improve project outcomes.
  • Make sound technical decisions with limited information and minimal management oversight.
  • Ensure design deliverables are accurate, complete, coordinated, and delivered in accordance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of design activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to other designers and project team members.
  • Support project planning through scope development, schedule input, material takeoffs, and fabrication drawing reviews.
  • Help ensure projects remain aligned with technical requirements, schedules, and quality expectations.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 8+ years of experience supporting new construction, industrial facilities, or related engineering design environments.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawing principles and discipline-related system design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software or ability to quickly learn and utilize 3D design tools.
  • Experience performing detailed design activities with limited instruction and guidance.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical direction for design details, drawings, and calculations.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize business-unit-specific software and tools.
  • Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
