Job description

Who are we?

At Finastra, we're a global leader in financial services software, dedicated to expanding access to financial services and shaping what's next for the industry. Our technology powers missioncritical solutions across Lending, Payments and Universal Banking, supporting over 7,000 customers, including 80% of the world's top 50 banks, in more than 110 countries.

What will you contribute?

We are seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our U.S. legal team, with a primary focus on supporting Retail Lending-related contracts and commercial legal matters. This role is ideal for an attorney with a solid legal foundation, strong judgment, and an interest in growing within a fast-paced fintech environment.

In this role, you will draft, review, and support a high volume of customer and commercial agreements, with an emphasis on identifying key legal risks, escalating complex issues appropriately, and partnering closely with internal business stakeholders. Over time, this role is expected to grow in scope and complexity, offering the opportunity to build deeper experience in contract negotiation, financial services technology, and broader commercial legal support.

The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney who is comfortable working independently, able to cut through complexity to focus on material legal issues, and eager to develop in a collaborative, business-facing legal environment.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Draft, review, and support contracts related to Retail Lending, software licensing, services, SaaS, and other commercial transactions.
  • Identify, analyze, and help mitigate contractual and business risks while supporting timely execution of customer agreements.
  • Review contract terms independently, identify key legal issues, and escalate complex or higher risk matters appropriately.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including sales, finance, product, operations, and senior legal team members, to support commercial transactions aligned with business guidelines and approval processes.
  • Provide practical legal guidance to business teams regarding contractual rights, obligations, approval requirements, and risk considerations.
  • Support high-volume legal workstreams while maintaining quality, sound judgment, and responsiveness.
  • Ensure internal approval processes are followed before commitments are made to customers.
  • Assist with customer-related disputes as needed, including evaluating contractual positions and supporting resolution efforts.
  • Support legal and regulatory matters related to financial technology, lending, software, SaaS, cloud, data privacy, product compliance, and commercial contracting as needed.
  • Continue building negotiation experience and gradually take on more complex contractual matters over time.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Law degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or similar legal environment with exposure to commercial, corporate, or contract law matters.
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts independently.
  • Strong legal judgment with the ability to identify material risks and escalate appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while balancing legal risk and business objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Collaborative, coachable, and comfortable developing into broader and more complex legal responsibilities over time.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or negotiating customer contracts, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, or services agreements.
  • Exposure to technology law, software licensing, SaaS/cloud, data privacy, product compliance, or technology outsourcing.
  • Experience or interest in fintech, banking, lending, financial services, or regulated environments.
  • Prior experience supporting commercial transactions involving enterprise customers or financial institutions.
  • Ability to operate with independence while knowing when to seek guidance on complex or sensitive matters.
