Position Summary

The Community Engagement & Development Coordinator serves as an ambassador for JFCS by building meaningful relationships with volunteers, community partners, and donors. This position coordinates volunteer engagement, manages key community initiatives, supports fundraising and stewardship efforts, develops donor communications, and promotes JFCS's mission through outreach and social media.


Essential ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement & Volunteer Services
  • Recruit, onboard, and orient new volunteers.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities for individuals, corporate groups, schools, and civic organizations.
  • Build relationships with community organizations to increase volunteer involvement and awareness of JFCS.
  • Maintain volunteer records
Development & Stewardship
  • Write stewardship letters, donor impact reports, acknowledgments, and other donor communications.
  • Create development-related social media content highlighting donor impact, volunteer engagement, client success stories, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with donor cultivation events and stewardship activities.
  • Support fundraising campaigns and special events
Special Projects
  • Coordinate the annual Foster Teen Birthday Program, including donor recruitment, volunteer coordination, event planning, and recognition.
  • Manage the Holiday Gift Giving Program, including volunteer coordination, gift collection, organization, and distribution.
  • Coordinate additional agency-wide community engagement projects as assigned.
Community Outreach
  • Develop partnerships with businesses, schools, congregations, and civic organizations to increase community engagement.
Administration
  • Maintain accurate volunteer and project records using agency databases
  • Assist in check processing when needed.
  • Track volunteer participation and prepare reports
  • Assist with agency events and other development initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • One or more years of experience in nonprofit development, volunteer management, communications, marketing, or community engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Donor Management Software (Bloomerang experience preferred).
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Event planning and volunteer coordination experience.
  • Relationship building
  • Social media content creation and basic graphic design experience.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for community service and nonprofit work.
