Duties:
  • A software consultant helps a company moderate and effectively manage their technological content.
  • Software consultants may handle many different types of software and the data they contain, which could include web content (websites and website code), document management, and digital records and asset management.
  • This individual enables to organization to manage these components effectively and safely within the company's specifications.
  • Software consultants may also work with clients in a service-based atmosphere.
  • Some consultants work on a client-by-client basis in areas such as website construction and internet advertising.
  • They may also work within the company, helping meet software needs of departments such as marketing and social media.

Skills:
  • Software consultants also should be able to multitask effectively, able to work independently, and have good business judgment.
  • Software consultants typically are required to have three to five years' experience in computer science and in a consulting environment.
  • In addition, a bachelor's degree in computer science degree is usually required, as is the knowledge and implementation of a wide variety of computer scripts and languages such as Java, HTML, and SQL.
