Job description

September 2026 - February 2027
Traditional schedule will be Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm, with the exception of some evenings, weekends, and holidays required for onsite and offsite events.
PURPOSE:
The PR + Social Intern will be part of a team that acts as a digital concierge for Mall of America through social and online channels, as well as in person, by delivering Mall guests with social media content and answers to questions, solutions to challenges and a friendly, enthusiastic attitude. The PR + Social Intern will assist in being a digital concierge, disseminating key messages, following social media channels and making suggestions on content to promote Mall of America as the premier retail and entertainment complex.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Monitor and assist with responding to and engaging across social media channels.
  • Make suggestion and assist with MOA social media content creation including copywriting, photography, and video.
  • Monitor pop culture, competitor, influencer, industry, and media trends that impact Mall of America.
  • Assist with carrying out community management activities: respond to customer questions, concerns and feedback, remove comments and spam that violate our community page guidelines, report conversations and feedback to appropriate Mall departments.
  • Research, and assist with writing, and coordinating distribution of MOA media materials including media advisories and press releases.
  • Assist in responding to day-to-day media requests and photo requests, along with helping media crews onsite.
  • Help with efforts to gain media stories/placement for events and new and coming tenants/attractions and restaurants.
  • Reflect MOA voice and tone in all communications.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in or pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or Liberal Arts.
  • Strong guest service and customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms channels including, but not limited to Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, Snapchat, YouTube etc.
  • Knowledge of using social media tools for business.
  • Flexibility in schedule.
  • Strong knowledge of computer skills
  • Interest in emerging technology platforms.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Assertive with a "can do" attitude and able to work independently as well as be a team player.
