Accounting Manager for Small Business

Job Description

The role of an accounting manager encompasses comprehensive management of the financial operations within the company’s diverse revenue streams. This position involves overseeing billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, 401(k) management, and healthcare insurance plans, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the billing process for the company's three revenue streams.
  • Oversee the collections process for accounts receivable.
  • Process incoming vendor invoices and execute payments via ACH Funds Transfer or check.
  • Handle payroll processing and all related transactions including expense reimbursements and loan payments.
  • Administer the company's 401(k) Plan, managing employee enrollments and contributions.
  • Oversee healthcare insurance and employee benefits plan setup and enrollment.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Maintain the prepaid expenses account with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile bank statements on a timely basis.
  • Manage and account for company credit card transactions monthly.
  • Coordinate with a CPA firm for the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns as required.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a similar role within a small business setting ($10-$30 million revenue).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment

The work schedule is 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, on-site. The position is based in newly renovated office setting with production/warehouse facilities nearby. The location is conveniently central in Jefferson Park, with some flexibility for remote work when needed for personal reasons such as medical appointments or family emergencies

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.63/hr.
