Job description

Position Summary:

Directs financial activities of an organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Guides financial decisions and protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing company’s financial policies and procedures. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors. Directs the workflow for department and manages the performance of the Assistant Controller, Financial Analyst/Treasurer, Cost Accounting Manager, Business Analyst, and State Coordinator. Special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Monitors and supervises financial accounting functions including; cash flow, loans, accounting transaction journals, general ledgers, financial statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, payroll and tax filings.
  • Monitors foreign currency exchange rates to obtain best rates on the execution of foreign currency transactions.
  • Oversees preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, TTB and Federal Excise Tax (FET).
  • Oversees preparation of sales tax, use tax, franchise tax, property tax and annual state registration returns.
  • Provides in house support and data collection for various federal and state tax returns, foreign country tax returns.
  • Process quarterly tax payments and research any tax return correspondence.
  • Arranges for audits of company’s accounts and provides support for independent accountants both domestic and internationally.
  • Maintains charts of accounts.
  • Maintains and generates internal financial statements.
  • Prepares annual budgets.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, accounting objectives and policies for company.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and maintenance and reporting of actual results.
  • Processes payroll accounting.
  • Responsible for monthly closing process.
  • Maintains a workplace which is neat and orderly and free from any safety hazards and follows appropriate safety procedures.
  • Collaborates with peers to ensure compliance to companies financial goals
  • Appraises the CFO of problems, potential issues and status of work in progress.
  • Oversees Cost Accounting department. Must have extensive cost accounting experience.

Pay will be based on experience.
