Job description

Full Time, Days, 40 hours/week

Mon-Friday

No nights, holidays, or weekends

8 AM - 4:30 PM

Home location of St. Luke's Center, Allentown, PA

Fully remote after training, for local candidate (PA, NJ) at manager discretion.

The Payroll Accountant will have the ability to perform the essential functions of processing the bi-weekly payroll. Skillful in responding to management & employee requests for payroll information. Preparation of salary analysis as required.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in operating the Star Payroll System and Kronos.
  • Responsible for responding to employee phone calls on issues other than regular corrections.
  • Document policies and procedures for responsibilities as assigned.
  • Develop the software skills needed to back up the other payroll staff.
  • NOTE: Most of these responsibilities are shared by other payroll staff and cross training is required to maintain necessary coverage of the duties.
  • Responsible for making journal entries in HEFM general ledger as required and doing account reconciliations and analysis as needed.
  • Responsible for making timely tax payments and tax filings in accordance to the taxing authority regulations.
  • Responsible for the Upload/Download function of (Pay types, deductions, check stubs)
  • Troubleshoot software and printing problems that occur during payroll processing.
  • Preparation of salary analysis as requested by departments and for regulatory reporting requirements. This will include the salary portion of FYE 990 forms and Pension reporting.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and handle escheat responsibilities.
  • Enter manual, void, and adjustment payroll checks into Star System as needed.
  • Vouchering the payroll deductions for all entities and other deductions as needed.
  • Reconciliation of taxable wages & taxes withheld by entity.
  • Responsible for printing of payroll checks.
  • Completes employee earnings information requests from banks, insurance companies, legal firms, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Preparation and filing of Quarterly payroll tax vouchers and reports.
  • Maintains the changes in department locations for local tax reporting and will correspond with townships for new office locations.
  • Assist Payroll Manager in responding to compliance issues arising from cycle audits of time schedules and other areas.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting up to 7 hours per day, three hours at a time. Continuously uses fingers and hands for typing, data entry, etc. Uses upper extremities to frequently lift up to 30 pounds, operate various office machines, and filing. Frequently stoops, bends, kneels, and reaches above shoulder level to retrieve files. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, and peripheral vision. Visual monotony when reading reports and viewing computer screen.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting Strongly Preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Accountant experience preferred. Must have Superior Excel skills and knowledge of Access Data Base.
