The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Summary:

The Senior Server Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving enterprise server, virtualization, storage, and hybrid cloud infrastructure across assigned datacenters, data rooms, and related computing environments. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of Windows Server and desktop operating systems, VMware, Citrix, converged and hyper-converged compute platforms, enterprise storage, data protection, and cloud technology platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and related hybrid cloud services. The engineer will support secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure operations through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, documentation, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management. This position also requires strong scripting and automation skills, sound understanding of information security best practices, and the ability to participate in scheduled and unscheduled after-hours maintenance, emergency response, and mandatory on-call rotation in a 24x7 computing environment. The Senior Server Engineer is expected to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, application teams, peers, and leadership; mentor other engineers; provide recommendations for operational improvements and innovation; and deliver excellent customer service with professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a consistent supportive attitude.

 Education Required:

  • Certification or equivalent may be substituted for a BA degree.

Additional Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or Equivalent work experience

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in Information Technology and Services in the related area. Experience in Healthcare field helpful, but not required.   

Experience Preferred:

  • Windows Server and Desktop and/or Linux/Unix Operating Systems , VMware vSphere and Horizon, Citrix, Active Directory, general networking concepts, powershell, Converged and Hyper-converged computing platforms. Cloud computing concepts and data protection platforms (Netbackup, Cohesity).  Experience in Cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure and GCP)

Job Responsibilities (list 8-12):

  1. Monitor problem ticket queues and resolve tickets in a timely manner according to the defined SLAs
  2. Participate in monthly security patching for computing environment
  3. Troubleshoot with peers and customers on application related issues. Functions as an escalation point for application admins and second level support in troubleshooting complex system issues.   Troubleshoot infrastructure and related technologies by reviewing logs and error messages
  4. Update Operating Systems (Windows), and Assist with updating VMware Infrastructure (upgrades, hotfixes, security remediations)
  5. Assist Vendors, Customers and Peers with remote access needs
  6. Follow and execute defined runbooks and documentation for Disaster recovery events , System Decommissions, Infrastructure installs/Upgrades , Application patching
  7. Monitor infrastructure via monitoring toolsets 
  8. Create technical documentation and workflows
  9. Follow defined Change Management policies and procedures
  10. Attend daily, weekly and monthly team meetings.  Attend project or troubleshooting calls to address issues or tasks
  11. Participate in projects as assigned
  12. Support cloud technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud services, by assisting with provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, access coordination, and operational support activities.
  13. May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (list no more than 12):

  1. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related enterprise infrastructure services.
  2. Strong experience supporting virtualized and hybrid infrastructure platforms, including VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, converged, and hyper-converged compute environments.
  3. Working knowledge of cloud technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, hybrid cloud architecture, identity and access management, monitoring, security controls, and cost-aware operational support.
  4. Ability to troubleshoot complex server, cloud, virtualization, storage, application, and network-related issues using logs, monitoring tools, performance data, and root cause analysis methods.
  5. Proficiency with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell or related technologies, to improve operational efficiency, reporting, provisioning, patching, and repeatable infrastructure tasks.
  6. Knowledge of enterprise storage, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and data protection concepts used to maintain resilient and available computing environments.
  7. Strong understanding of infrastructure security best practices, vulnerability remediation, privileged access, patch management, change control, and regulatory or organizational compliance requirements.
  8. Ability to create, maintain, and follow technical documentation, diagrams, workflows, standards, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles.
  9. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, support on-call responsibilities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced 24x7 enterprise computing environment.
  10. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with peers, vendors, application teams, customers, and leadership.
  11. Ability to mentor engineers and peers, share technical knowledge, support continuous improvement, and contribute to team development.
  12. Commitment to excellent customer service, professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a consistent supportive attitude when working with customers and stakeholders.
