Underwriting Assistant
SUI is leading the way in facultative reinsurance, based on robust relationships and strong underwriting results. SUI offers facultative casualty reinsurance for several lines of business, including General Liability, Automobile Liability, Excess/Umbrella Liability and Workers' Compensation.

A diligent and detail-oriented Underwriting/Technical Assistant is needed to join our Facultative Reinsurance team. The successful candidate will support senior underwriters in the evaluation, processing, and renewal underwriting of reinsurance submissions, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to company guidelines.
**This role is hybrid from the SUI Doylestown Office**
Responsibilities:
- Support underwriting activities, through assistance of senior underwriters in the assessment and underwriting of facultative reinsurance risks.
- Prepare underwriting documentation and reports.
- Review and analyze reinsurance submissions, certificate terms, and conditions.
- Assist in the review and renewal of existing facultative reinsurance policies.
- Gather and evaluate relevant data and information for the renewal process.
- Prepare renewal documentation and ensure timely processing of renewals.
- Involvement in post bind documentation process; maintaining accurate and organized records of underwriting decisions and transactions, while ensuring compliance with company guidelines, procedures, and post bind processes.
- Manage electronic filing systems.
- Liaise with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information.
- Provide support in responding to inquiries and requests for information.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and reports for risk takers and senior management.
- Provide general support to the underwriting team.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.
- Support special projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in risk management, Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field, preferred.
- Previous experience in insurance, reinsurance, reinsurance brokering, or E&S is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ensure accuracy in documentation and data analysis, with great attention to detail.
- Work well in a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to team goals.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ARe, CPCU) are a plus.
