ABOUT THE TEAM
As a Senior Technical Underwriter, you will be a part of the Insurance Product Team working across Bestow's Software Product, Customer Experience, Data Science, User Experience, Actuarial, Legal/Compliance, and Engineering Teams. As the industry evolves rapidly, you will help develop solutions that balance efficiency, flexibility and solid risk management protocols.
This role reports to the Director of Underwriting Strategy and is open to Dallas, TX, or Remote (US). #LI-Remote
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Bestow is looking for a Senior Technical Underwriter to contribute in the following ways:
  • Enhance, monitor, and support the underwriting logic and data within our instant decision underwriting platform.
  • Conduct audits to monitor the performance and functionality of our platform and review decisions of third-party and internal underwriters.
  • Monitor underwriting metrics and data to identify opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and iterate on carrier implementation framework
  • Contribute to product feature evolution

WHO YOU ARE
  • 8+ years of production life insurance underwriting experience.
  • 1+ years experience with underwriting rules engines.
  • FALU, FLMI, or CLU preferred.
  • Strong technical background, including proficiency with data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and analyzing industry-standard data vendors to optimize underwriting processes.
  • Experience conducting underwriting audits.
  • Experience conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • An understanding of the legal/compliance framework for life insurance and underwriting.
  • A self-starter who excels in an independent work culture.
  • Adaptable and willing to embrace change.
  • AI-Enabled Productivity: Skilled in deploying modern AI utilities to automate repeatable administrative and analytical tasks; frees up bandwidth to focus on high-impact strategic initiatives, platform auditing, and cross-functional product development.
