Job description

Welling Young has partnered with a Commercial Insurance Holding Company who is seeking a Senior Underwriting Assistant.


The Senior Underwriting Assistant position will work closely with underwriters to provide best in class service to

the programs’ producers. This includes evaluating and managing submissions, setting up files and

procuring proper documentation, communicating with producers and underwriters, assuring accurate

entry of data into the program’s systems and working with others to help timely rate and prepare quotes.

The Underwriting Assistant must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, be a decisive and

organized person who can represent the program professionally, be comfortable in a fast-paced

environment, and have the potential and desire to grow with us.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage incoming submissions by assuring that they are completed timely and ready to be

underwritten

• Assure that submissions have not been received from other producers

• Communicate with producers and gather information as needed to assure submissions are

complete

• Assure accurate filing of documents as directed

• Produce binders, policies, cancellations, renewals, changes, and endorsements as directed

• Prepare and rate policies timely for agency distribution

• Engage in optimal and appropriate usage of other applicable management systems

• Assist in development and implementation of processes and procedures

• Assist in training of other staff as directed


Skills:

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience

• High level of organization skills

• Ability to provide a high level of customer experience

• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work closely with others

• High level of accuracy and detail

• Demonstrate a technical proficiency with all computer systems necessary for the efficient

management of daily tasks

• Proficient in Excel and Word
