Description:

About Futuristic Underwriters

Futuristic Underwriters is a growth-oriented Managing General Agent (MGA) delivering innovative Property & Casualty insurance solutions to the U.S. middle market. We operate as a direct-to-agent MGA writing on affiliated paper, enabling speed, underwriting authority, and strong alignment with our agent partners.

As an affiliate of a financially strong and well-established organization, we benefit from robust operational support and infrastructure. Our strategy leverages technology to enhance distribution, underwriting efficiency, service delivery, and claims outcomes.

We are building a modern MGA platform designed for long-term, profitable growth.

The Position

We are seeking a results driven Workers’ Compensation Senior Production Underwriter to help launch and scale our WC platform. This is a ground floor opportunity to build and manage a profitable book of business, shape underwriting strategy, and help define the culture and operating model of a growth stage platform building innovative Workers’ Compensation programs to agent partners. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, production oriented, and disciplined in risk selection, with the ability to drive meaningful premium growth while protecting profitability.

This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial underwriter who thrives on relationship building, driving production, and contributing strategically to a new venture.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Production Underwriter will build and expand agent relationships to drive new Workers’ Compensation production while underwriting mid-market and program accounts, evaluating payroll, class codes, experience modifications, and loss history. This role is responsible for structuring, quoting, and binding business with disciplined underwriting judgment, partnering closely with carrier markets to negotiate pricing, terms, and coverage that protect profitability. The underwriter will monitor production metrics such as submission-to-bind ratios and portfolio mix, using data and analytics to inform underwriting strategy and portfolio performance. As part of a growth stage platform, this individual will also contribute to underwriting guidelines, processes, and overall platform development as the WC business scales.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Workers’ Compensation underwriting experience (MGA, program administrator, or carrier environment preferred)
  • Proven track record of building agent relationships and growing premium
  • Strong knowledge of WC class codes, experience mods, loss runs, and multi-state regulatory environments
  • Demonstrated analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment
  • Experience with program business or specialty WC products
  • Multi-state underwriting experience
  • Familiarity with MGA underwriting systems

Preferred Experience:

  • Broad underwriting appetite including high-hazard accounts
  • Exposure to transportation, contractors, retail, services, and manufacturing risks

If you thrive on agent relationships, hitting premium targets, and helping build something new, this is the role for you.
