Normal Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM

What You'll Do
As the Personal Lines Underwriting Manager, you'll lead a team responsible for making smart underwriting decisions that balance growth, profitability, and exceptional customer service. You'll oversee both new business and renewal underwriting operations while helping shape underwriting strategy, improve processes, and develop a high-performing team. Working closely with leaders across the organization, you'll drive operational excellence, support strategic initiatives, and help ensure Olympus continues to deliver quality products and outstanding service to our agents and policyholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Underwriting Team
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Personal Lines Underwriting team. Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture while supporting employee development through ongoing feedback, training, and mentoring.
Drive Underwriting Excellence
Oversee new business and renewal underwriting operations, review complex transactions, establish performance goals, conduct quality audits, and ensure underwriting decisions align with company guidelines and profitability objectives.
Improve Processes & Performance
Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes, systems, and workflows that improve efficiency, risk selection, and operational effectiveness. Evaluate vendor solutions and support initiatives that strengthen underwriting performance.
Partner Across the Business
Collaborate with Product, Claims, Sales, Marketing, and other internal teams to communicate underwriting changes, support agency initiatives, resolve escalated issues, and contribute to strategic business projects.
Support Business Success
Participate in agency events, assist with catastrophe response when needed, and help drive continuous improvement across the underwriting organization.
What You'll Bring
  • 6+ years of Personal Lines underwriting experience, preferably within the Florida homeowners insurance market.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of homeowners insurance, underwriting principles, and underwriting operations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CPCU or other professional insurance designation preferred.
  • Florida 2-20 Property & Casualty License preferred; Florida 20-44 Personal Lines License accepted. Candidates without either license must be able to obtain a 2-20 License within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge with the ability to make sound risk decisions.
  • Proven leadership experience with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments, influence stakeholders, and drive process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications.
