PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $106,600.00-$130,100.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $82,900.00 - $154,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As a Sr. Credit Risk Analyst, you'll play a critical role in shaping credit strategy and governance for BECU's Small and Medium Business lending portfolios. Through advanced analytics, portfolio monitoring, and data-driven recommendations, you'll help ensure responsible lending decisions that support both member success and portfolio health. You'll partner with Credit Risk leaders and business stakeholders to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and influence strategic decisions that drive sustainable growth. Your insights will directly impact credit policy development, portfolio performance, and risk management outcomes. If you're energized by turning complex data into meaningful business action, this is an opportunity to make a measurable difference.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Analyze Portfolio Performance: Use SQL, SAS, Python, and other analytical tools to evaluate lending portfolio performance, identify trends, uncover risks and opportunities, and support data-driven credit strategy decisions.
  • Deliver Actionable Insights: Transform complex data into clear recommendations that influence credit policies, lending strategies, risk management practices, and portfolio growth initiatives.
  • Own Portfolio Reporting: Develop, maintain, and enhance recurring and ad hoc reporting, including quarterly portfolio reviews covering exposure, balances, product performance, and portfolio health.
  • Support Credit Strategy & Governance: Partner with Credit Risk leaders to assess new lending strategies, policy changes, and portfolio initiatives while supporting effective risk governance and monitoring practices.
  • Influence Business Decisions: Present findings and business implications to stakeholders, helping leaders make informed decisions based on analytical evidence and portfolio trends.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, improve analytical processes, increase efficiency, and enhance overall business value.
  • Lead Work Independently: Manage projects and analytical initiatives from data discovery through recommendations while building strong partnerships across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative or business field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 years of related functional experience in credit risk analytics required.
  • Advanced experience using quantitative software and database querying tools (ex. SAS, SQL, Python) required.
  • Advanced experience using presentation development software (ex. Tableau, PowerBI, PowerPoint) required.
  • Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, ect.) with the ability to learn new software quickly required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Banking, credit union, fintech, or broader financial services experience.
  • Experience supporting business lending, commercial lending, consumer lending, credit card, mortgage, or auto portfolios.
  • Experience supporting credit policy development and risk governance initiatives.
  • Previous experience with analysis of portfolio performance and articulating results and desired outcomes from a risk management perspective required.
  • Previous experience in the financial serviced industry preferred.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience building cohesive cross-functional teams and facilitating collaborative decision making required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect pertinent data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions as well as formulate ideas and recommendations required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving required.
  • Ability to translate analytics into strategic business outcomes and influence decision-making through data.
  • Presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
