Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and supplier management for our nutraceutical and dietary supplement business. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in securing non-GMO, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients, as well as packaging materials that meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, compliance, and competitiveness of our products in the health and wellness marketplace.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Procurement
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies focused on non-GMO, certified organic, and premium raw materials, including botanicals, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and plant-based extracts
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers with verified USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, and other third-party certifications
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and supply reliability while maintaining strict quality standards

Supplier & Vendor Management
  • Build and maintain strong, ethical relationships with growers, processors, and contract manufacturers specializing in organic and non-GMO supply chains
  • Conduct supplier audits to confirm adherence to organic integrity, sustainability practices, and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor vendor performance, addressing quality deviations, supply risks, and certification lapses
  • Develop and maintain a diversified supplier base to mitigate single-source dependencies and geopolitical supply disruptions

Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure all materials meet FDA, FTC, cGMP, NSF, USDA Organic, and Non-GMO Project standards where applicable
  • Maintain accurate ingredient documentation including Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Organic Certificates, and Non-GMO Declarations
  • Partner with Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams to ensure full compliance with labeling and product claims

Cost & Inventory Control
  • Manage procurement budgets with a focus on optimizing costs while upholding organic and non-GMO commitments
  • Monitor global market trends in organic and specialty ingredients to inform purchasing strategies
  • Balance inventory management to avoid shortages or overstock while supporting continuous production

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with R&D on ingredient sourcing for new product development (NPD), ensuring organic and non-GMO requirements are met from concept to launch
  • Work with Marketing to validate claims and certifications used in product positioning
  • Partner with Operations to align purchasing schedules with production needs
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior procurement staff, fostering professional growth and team capability
  • Lead cross-departmental risk planning sessions to proactively address supply chain vulnerabilities

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, organic foods, or natural products
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in labels and/or consumer packaging
  • Demonstrated success sourcing organic, non-GMO, and sustainably produced ingredients
  • Familiarity with ERP/procurement systems, organic certification processes, and supplier auditing
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost analysis skills
  • In-depth understanding of organic and non-GMO certification standards and global ingredient supply chains
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and documentation abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working across suppliers, regulators, and internal departments
