Job description

Description:

Position Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical systems and components for custom industrial equipment, including concrete batch plants and mixers. This role focuses on producing accurate, manufacturable designs, supporting production, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

The position works closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure designs meet performance requirements, company standards, and customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for mechanical systems and equipment using Creo (or similar CAD software).
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in accordance with company procedures.
  • Translate customer requirements and internal specifications into practical, manufacturable design solutions.
  • Apply company design standards (material selection, bend radii, tolerances, weldments, etc.) to all work.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations (load, stress, fit, and function) to support design decisions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure design feasibility and efficient production.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of design-related issues during fabrication, assembly, and field installation.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, cost reduction, and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments including Sales, Service, Quality, and Purchasing.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to product development projects.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure data integrity within engineering systems.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
