Sr. Manager, Debit Horizontal Management (Hybrid)

Capital One's Enterprise Payments (EP) Debit Operations team, within the Retail Bank, is looking for a proactive Senior Manager to head the Debit Horizontal Management function. This role involves creating a comprehensive oversight framework for Debit payment types, encompassing strategy, operations, and risk management. By defining accountabilities across the ecosystem, acting as a strategic advisor, and monitoring end-to-end risks and controls, our team ensures a robust Debit framework.

In this capacity, you will lead the design and implementation of governance and strategic management across all Debit payment channels. Working with key stakeholders, you will deliver impactful results that refine Capital One's Debit strategies. You will be pivotal in advancing our well-managed agenda, preparing a sophisticated organization for growth, and utilizing technology to streamline initiatives, mitigate risks, and enhance the experience for both customers and associates.

As the leader of a high-performing team, you will be tasked with generating strategic insights and maintaining essential processes for Debit operations. Your responsibilities include governing Debit-related events and issues company-wide, ensuring major risks are escalated to Senior Management for timely resolution. You will also foster connections with ecosystem partners-including Operations, Initiation, and Advisors-to establish routines for monitoring operational metrics, controls, and risks that inform critical leadership discussions.

In this role you will drive results by navigating formal and informal organizational channels and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership: A successful track record of leading dynamic teams. Fostering a culture of empowerment by providing clarity, trust, and support with clear direction, and accountability to deliver strong outcomes.

  • Enterprise Partnerships: Collaborate with ecosystem partners (Advisors, Operations, Initiation) on routines and lead insightful discussions with leadership.

  • Issue Resolution: Leveraging problem-solving and influencing skills to collaborate across teams and develop resolution to Debit-related events.

  • Operational Excellence: Drive disciplined execution and continuous improvement across processes, controls, and operational practices to deliver consistent outcomes.

  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline current monitoring processes.

  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to manage and influence third- party relationships with sound judgement and persistent drive.

  • Risk Management: Ensuring Debit payment issues are identified and documented, with a focus on escalating major risk to Senior Management when necessary.

Location: West Creek 5 (Richmond, VA) or Center 2 (McLean, VA) or 802 Delaware Ave (Wilmington, DE) or Riverwoods (Riverwoods, IL) or 114 5th Ave ( New York, NY) - this role is Hybrid, where you will be expected to spend 3 days per week working in office and the remainder of the week working virtually.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 3 years of People Management experience

  • At least 5 years of Process Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal and external business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • At least 5 years experience with multiple payment types

  • At least 5 years of experience in risk, compliance or audit

  • At least 6 years of Process Management experience leading cross functional programs

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $163,900 - $187,100 for Sr Manager, Process Management


New York, NY: $178,800 - $204,100 for Sr Manager, Process Management


Richmond, VA: $149,000 - $170,000 for Sr Manager, Process Management


Riverwoods, IL: $149,000 - $170,000 for Sr Manager, Process Management


Wilmington, DE: $149,000 - $170,000 for Sr Manager, Process Management







Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
