Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the overall financial functions of their specific Division. This position may have limited day to day accounting responsibilities, but will primarily support forward looking financial projections, including budgeting, forecasting and feasibility analyses. This hands-on position will work directly with the Division and Finance Leaders in supporting the financial and operational management needs of their Division.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial and operational reports for executive management.
  • Analyze pricing, direct costs and overhead expenses in comparison to annual budget.
  • Manage the preparation of the Division’s budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Prepare financial feasibility studies for both raw land and finished lot purchases.
  • Work with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
  • Train division employees on proper invoice coding and processing.
  • Develop and implement procedures that impact budgets, costs and strategic goals.
  • Coordinate monthly financial/budget review meetings with other departments.
  • Partner with finance and division leaders to increase overall division performance.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager in homebuilding
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to manage, guide and lead division employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with expertise in Excel

Education and Work Experience

  • BS/MA degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus
  • 4-6 years' experience in Finance roles.
  • Homebuilding, real estate, or land development experience is preferred.
