Senior Learning Program Manager information

What is a senior learning program manager?

Senior Learning Program Managers are professionals responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing large-scale learning and development programs within an organization. They work closely with stakeholders to assess training needs, develop strategic learning initiatives, and measure the effectiveness of educational programs. Their role often involves managing teams, budgets, and timelines to ensure that learning objectives are met and aligned with organizational goals. Senior Learning Program Managers also stay updated on best practices in adult education and incorporate new technologies or methodologies to enhance training outcomes.

What are the main challenges senior learning program managers face when leading large-scale training initiatives?

Senior Learning Program Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning diverse stakeholder expectations, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring training initiatives meet both business goals and learner needs. Coordinating with subject matter experts, adapting to rapidly changing organizational priorities, and measuring the effectiveness of learning programs are also common hurdles. Success in this role requires strong communication, project management, and analytical skills to navigate these complexities and drive impactful results.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior learning program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Learning Program Manager, you need expertise in instructional design, program management, and adult learning principles, typically supported by a relevant degree and experience in developing large-scale learning initiatives. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and data analytics platforms is highly valuable, as are certifications like CPLP or PMP. Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic communication skills help drive engagement and lead cross-functional teams effectively. These competencies are critical for designing impactful learning solutions and ensuring organizational goals are met through effective talent development.

Job description

Posting Date
07/16/2026
2000 16th St, Denver, Colorado, 80202-5117, United States of America
Performance & Capability Design, Program Manager
Location: Remote or Denver Hybrid (Preferred)
The Opportunity
We are transforming how DaVita builds workforce capability, aligning our approach with personalized development strategies and the future of learning. We are moving beyond traditional training order-taking to build a Performance & Capability Design function that solves business problems through strategic learning consulting and high-level learning solution design, while maintaining a holistic view of the tools, processes, and environment.
We are seeking a Program Manager, Performance & Capability Design to support this transformation. This is a strategic learning consulting and project leadership role. You will manage large-scale projects aimed at diagnosing the organization's most complex capability challenges. Working alongside performance architects and business leaders, you will consult on and create high-level designs for innovative learning solutions that directly impact our clinical and business outcomes.
An ideal candidate will be proficient in performance and learning consulting with a proven track record of designing and implementing holistic enablement and capability solutions.
Your Impact
As a key member of the team, you will:
  • Execute the Personalized Learning Strategy: Shift the organization toward the future of learning by managing enablement initiatives that focus on personalized, impactful development aligned with DaVita's highest-priority business goals.
  • Drive Learning & Business Results: Track and report on impact metrics (clinical and business performance outcomes, pipeline readiness, and retention) while evaluating the effectiveness of modern learning interventions.
  • Consult & Design: Partner with stakeholders to diagnose performance gaps and design high-level learning solutions, maintaining an awareness of how process, technology, or environment impact the learner experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Learning Consulting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as a learning consultant to operational and clinical leaders. Help translate their business strategy into clear workforce capability requirements and personalized development journeys.
  • Needs Analysis: Conduct performance gap and learning needs analyses to ensure we are solving the right problems. Recommend targeted, modern learning interventions rather than one-size-fits-all training.

High-Level Solution Design
  • Learning Architecture: Lead the high-level design of blended learning solutions. Architect programs that leverage the future of learning (e.g., personalized pathways, microlearning, learning in the flow of work) while considering workflow support and technology adoption.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with instructional designers, technologists, and SMEs to translate high-level learning designs into effective, scalable development programs.

Project Management & Execution
  • Project Leadership: Manage large-scale, medium- to high-complexity learning consulting projects from inception to implementation. Align business and delivery lanes to implement solutions that drive behavioral change.
  • Change Management: Support change management required to shift stakeholder expectations from "requesting traditional training" to "partnering on personalized learning and performance."

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in Learning Consulting, Learning Design, Organizational Effectiveness, or related field.
  • Experience with Human Performance Technology (HPT) or similar methodologies.
  • Experience project managing complex learning and capability initiatives across matrixed teams, including senior stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in building presentation decks that clearly visualize data and design concepts.
  • Prefer Denver, CO-based (in-office downtown Tues/Wed/Thurs); open to remote for the right candidate.
  • Travel required: up to 5-10%

What We'll Provide:
More than just pay, our DaVita Rewards package connects teammates to what matters most. Teammates are eligible to begin receiving benefits on the first day of the month following or coinciding with one month of continuous employment. Below are some of our benefit offerings.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, PTO cash out
  • Support for you and your family: Family resources, EAP counseling sessions, access Headspace®, backup child and elder care, maternity/paternity leave and more
  • Professional development programs: DaVita offers a variety of programs to help strong performers grow within their career and also offers on-demand virtual leadership and development courses through DaVita's online training platform StarLearning.
