Job description

About Terabase Energy

Terabase Energy is accelerating the deployment of utility-scale solar through advanced software, automation, and digital technologies. Our products combine enterprise software, industrial automation, robotics, and field technologies to help the world's largest renewable energy developers build solar power plants faster, safer, and at lower cost.

As we continue to grow, we are investing in our internal systems and infrastructure to support a rapidly expanding global workforce across the U.S. and around the world.

Position Overview

Terabase Energy is seeking its first in-house Senior Manager, Corporate IT to build and lead our internal IT organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing and scaling Terabase's IT function, partnering closely with leaders across the company to deliver secure, reliable, and responsive technology services that support our employees and business operations.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced IT leader who enjoys building organizations from the ground up. Initially, the role will focus on transitioning day-to-day IT operations from our Managed Service Provider (MSP) while establishing internal ownership of end-user support, identity and access management, enterprise applications, endpoint and device management, corporate infrastructure, and IT service delivery.

Over time, the successful candidate will build a high-performing internal IT organization capable of supporting a rapidly growing global technology company.

The ideal candidate combines strategic planning with a willingness to personally solve technical problems, improve processes, implement modern IT tools, and build scalable operational capabilities.

Scope of the Role

This position is responsible for the systems, devices, infrastructure, enterprise applications, and support services used by Terabase employees. It does not own Terabase's customer-facing software products, cloud production environments, engineering infrastructure, or customer-deployed SCADA and field automation systems. The role will work closely with the leaders responsible for these areas to ensure clear ownership boundaries and avoid gaps or overlaps in technology ownership, operational support, and security responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Build the IT Function

  • Develop and execute Terabase's long-term IT strategy.
  • Transition operational responsibilities from the external Managed Service Provider (MSP) to an internal IT organization.
  • Define organizational structure, staffing plans, budgets, and operating procedures.
  • Establish service standards, documentation, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance metrics.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement modern IT platforms and tools that improve service delivery, automation, security, and operational efficiency.

End User Support

  • Build and manage an internal Level 1 IT support capability.
  • Deliver responsive support for employees across multiple office locations and remote workers.
  • Develop knowledge bases, self-service capabilities, and standardized support processes.
  • Manage ticket queues and continuously improve response and resolution times.

Endpoint & Asset Management

  • Establish comprehensive lifecycle management for laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and office technology.
  • Implement modern endpoint management tools for provisioning, configuration, compliance, patching, and software deployment.
  • Own hardware inventory, asset tracking, refresh planning, and secure equipment disposition.
  • Standardize employee onboarding, offboarding, and equipment logistics.

Identity & Access Management

  • Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and related identity and endpoint management platforms.
  • Manage user provisioning, deprovisioning, multi-factor authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, and role-based access controls.
  • Improve identity governance through standardized access policies and periodic access reviews.
  • Coordinate identity, authentication, and access provisioning with business application owners to ensure consistent user lifecycle management across enterprise systems.

Enterprise IT Applications & Software Asset Management

  • Own administration of IT-managed enterprise applications, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Slack, Zoom, Jira, endpoint management platforms, security tools, and other corporate productivity and collaboration technologies.
  • Manage user provisioning, permissions, licensing, and lifecycle administration across IT-managed enterprise applications.
  • Establish software asset management (SAM) processes to optimize license utilization, renewals, compliance, and spend.
  • Develop governance and approval processes for introducing new IT applications and services.
  • Partner with business system owners across Finance, HR, Sales, Legal, and other functions to ensure seamless integration, clear ownership boundaries, and a consistent employee technology experience.

Infrastructure & Network Operations

  • Own the design, operation, security, and reliability of Terabase's corporate network infrastructure across multiple office, manufacturing, and R&D facilities.
  • Manage wired and wireless networks, switching, routing, firewalls, VPN, internet connectivity, and other network infrastructure to ensure secure and reliable business operations.
  • Partner closely with the Facilities team on the planning, deployment, maintenance, and expansion of IT infrastructure within Terabase facilities, including structured cabling, communications rooms, equipment installations, power, and physical infrastructure requirements.
  • Ensure network and IT infrastructure supporting manufacturing and R&D operations meet business continuity and operational uptime requirements.
  • Establish network architecture, operational standards, monitoring, redundancy, backup, and disaster recovery practices appropriate for a growing technology company.
  • Develop service level objectives (SLOs), response time standards, and operational procedures to ensure high availability of critical IT services.
  • Implement network monitoring, alerting, and performance management tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Lead relationships with internet service providers, network equipment vendors, and managed service providers supporting corporate infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, and capacity planning to support business growth.
  • Build and lead the internal infrastructure support capability, including defining staffing requirements, service level targets, on-call expectations, escalation procedures, and support coverage appropriate for Terabase's business operations.

Security & Compliance

  • Partner with Legal, external security providers, and business leaders to maintain a secure IT environment.
  • Implement endpoint security standards, vulnerability management, patch management, and compliance controls.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives including endpoint protection, phishing awareness, incident response, and audit readiness.
  • Assist with customer, regulatory, and security compliance initiatives.
  • Evaluate and responsibly deploy emerging technologies, including AI-powered productivity tools, to improve employee effectiveness while maintaining appropriate governance, security, and compliance.

Vendor Management

  • Manage the MSP relationship during the transition period.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, software providers, internet service providers, and hardware suppliers.
  • Negotiate software renewals, support agreements, and technology contracts.
  • Develop and manage the IT operating budget.

  • Hire, coach, and develop future members of the IT organization.
  • Foster a customer-focused, service-oriented IT culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and process optimization.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Finance, HR, Legal, Facilities, and other business functions.
