Job Description

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant Consultant to support a dynamic organization during a critical business initiative. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong manufacturing cost accounting experience who can quickly contribute and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

The Senior Cost Accountant Consultant will be responsible for supporting recurring cost accounting activities, inventory accounting, cost analysis, and month-end close responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of standard costing methodologies, inventory valuation, and manufacturing accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly cost roll activities and ensure timely updates to product costing information.
  • Maintain and update item costs within the ERP system.
  • Process cost changes resulting from Bill of Material (BOM) updates.
  • Prepare product cost estimates to support business planning and operational initiatives.
  • Perform Purchase Price Variance (PPV) analysis and forecasting activities.
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify variances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support inventory accounting, reporting, and valuation activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information required for costing and financial analysis.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience.
  • Experience performing quarterly cost roll activities.
  • Experience maintaining and updating standard costs.
  • Experience processing BOM-related cost changes.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory valuation concepts.
  • Experience with PPV analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
    • Pivot Tables
    • XLOOKUP
    • Power Query / Queries
    • Data reconciliation and variance analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within process manufacturing environments.
  • Power BI experience.
  • Experience preparing product cost estimates for new products or business opportunities.
