Job description

Patterson is seeking a Senior Manager Controlled Substances to lead our controlled drug compliance across wholesale dental and animal health operations. In this role, you will design and oversee policies, controls, and monitoring to ensure strict adherence to DEA and state regulations. You’ll analyze transaction data for suspicious activity, manage audits and inspections, and guide corrective actions. Partnering with Operations, Legal, and Supply Chain, you’ll embed compliance into daily workflows, train teams, and drive continuous improvement to protect patients, providers, and our business.

  • Lead controlled substances compliance program for Patterson’s wholesale operations, ensuring adherence to DEA and state regulations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, SOPs, and internal controls for ordering, storage, distribution, and recordkeeping of controlled substances
  • Monitor and analyze transaction data to detect suspicious orders, diversion risks, and compliance gaps; drive remediation plans
  • Coordinate and oversee regulatory inspections, audits, and investigations; prepare responses and corrective action plans
  • Provide training and guidance to distribution centers, sales, and corporate teams on controlled substances requirements
  • Collaborate with Legal, Operations, and Supply Chain leaders to embed compliance into business processes and systems
  • Manage license and registration requirements, including renewals, reporting, and documentation for all relevant locations
  • Prepare and deliver compliance reports and metrics to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Evaluate and implement technology or process enhancements to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency
