Job description

The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant preparation, distribution, and oversight of daily meal services for children participating in OVEC programs. This position ensures all meals and snacks are served according to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), health department, and OVEC regulations while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. The Food Service Coordinator receives and distributes meals from the catering provider, monitors food safety and special dietary requirements, maintains required records and documentation, and supports the mission of the Family Scholar House and OVEC partnership. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing high-quality food service.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED is required

One to two years of food service experience required

Push, pull, carry, and lift large and heavy items up to 50 pounds; standing for long periods of time

Food Service Manager Certification (or obtain within 18 months of hire)

Required Skills/Abilities: Must have computer skills and knowledge of relevant software, which may include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

Must take initiative and work with minimal direction.

Attention to detail, strong organization, and oral/written communication skills are necessary.

Basic record-keeping skills

Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and reliable transportation

Ability to meet physical demands of the position (e.g., able to stand, sit, bend, walk for the majority of time, and able to lift 50 lbs.)

Obtain and maintain a valid Food Service Manager Certification in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
