HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of advanced commodity strategies that align with business objectives and ensure a resilient, cost-effective supply chain. This role oversees global sourcing initiatives, manages strategic supplier relationships, and drives cost optimization while maintaining quality and compliance. The Senior Commodity Manager acts as a key partner to engineering, operations, and executive leadership in shaping sourcing strategies for critical and emerging technologies.
In addition to managing a team, this role provides thought leadership in supplier negotiations, risk mitigation, and supply base development. The Senior Commodity Manager ensures that the organization is well-positioned to meet current and future demands through proactive sourcing, supplier performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
*This is a Temp-to-Hire position.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Develop and implement global commodity strategies to optimize cost, mitigate supply risks, and ensure supplier performance.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for key supplier relationships, driving collaboration, innovation, and quality improvements.
  • Lead high-level contract negotiations, including long-term agreements, NDAs, and supply agreements, in collaboration with Legal.
  • Drive cross-functional sourcing strategies with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance to align supply chain goals with product development and business objectives.
  • Oversee commodity team performance, mentoring staff in supplier management, negotiation, and sourcing practices.
  • Establish supplier scorecard frameworks and lead quarterly business reviews with critical suppliers.
  • Anticipate and proactively address market shifts, commodity pricing trends, and potential supply disruptions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of dual-sourcing and business continuity strategies for critical commodities.
  • Manage supplier qualification and additional equipment/tooling validation to ensure timely delivery and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement by introducing innovative sourcing methods, advanced analytics, and technology tools to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop and oversee pricing strategies, cost modeling, and benchmarking to achieve cost savings and value creation.
  • Represent the commodities function in executive-level meetings, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and global sourcing.
  • Strong leadership experience, with 3-5 years managing teams or leading cross-functional projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of commodity markets, cost drivers, and risk management strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Global sourcing experience with international suppliers.
  • Experience in high-tech, electronics, or contract manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and advanced procurement tools.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across complex organizations.
