The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for ensuring quality materials and services, while procuring them on time at competitive market pricing. The role oversees suppliers to continuously improve quality, delivery and price to support supply chain operations.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Global Procurement and is part of the Global Procurement team and will be an on-site role from Indianapolis, IN.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a global category strategy implementation managing suppliers to support Quality, Cost, Cash, Service, Risk
  • Support internal customers including up to 7 global manufacturing facilities and R&D/ New Product Introduction
  • Lead RFQ and quote analysis, evaluates vendors' capability, quality, reliability and price competitiveness
  • Achieve year over year cost savings including negotiations, value engineering programs, contracting, competitive bidding, should costing
  • Manage projects with ability to change direction according to business dynamics

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering related field with 5+ years sourcing experiences in supply chain
  • Experienced individual contributor with understanding of procurement concepts, principles, and practices. Demonstrates experience and results in negotiating with suppliers on master supply agreements, inventory agreements, part costs, etc.
  • Experience as a formal or informal project manager. Has worked with team members in global geographies. Makes material contributions to the completion of specific programs and projects with significant scope that materially impact organizational schedules, resources and costs
  • Understands a wide application of technical concepts, theories, standards, and practices in the field and is expanding knowledge of related subject areas. These include but are not limited to global commodity material pricing, category manufacturing process knowledge, general procurement quoting, supplier measurement and strategy development tools.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 15% including overnight to global locations as required

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management related roles or projects
  • Lean Manufacturing including Daily Visual Management, Kaizen, Kanban
