Senior Business Intelligence Analyst
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our dynamic Business Intelligence and Technology Services Team. As a Senior BI Analyst, you will play a key role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role will partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, optimize business processes, and support enterprise reporting and system integration. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of relational databases and hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries involving joins, subqueries, aggregations, stored procedures, and performance optimization techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business and system requirements.
โ€ข Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
โ€ข Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and business insights.
โ€ข Design, write, test, and optimize advanced SQL queries for reporting, auditing, and operational analysis.
โ€ข Develop complex SQL logic using:
o INNER, LEFT, RIGHT, and FULL OUTER JOINS
o UNION / UNION ALL
o Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
o Subqueries and correlated queries
o Window functions
o Aggregate functions and GROUP BY logic
o Stored procedures, views, and temporary tables
โ€ข Work within Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI to support data modeling, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
โ€ข Validate and reconcile data across multiple source systems in the data warehouse.
โ€ข Support ETL/data integration processes and assist with data mapping activities.
โ€ข Partner with Finance, Operations and Commercial teams to troubleshoot data quality and performance issues.
โ€ข Create dashboards, KPIs, and operational reports using BI tools.
โ€ข Participate in system testing, UAT coordination, and defect resolution.
โ€ข Document workflows, system processes, and technical specifications.
โ€ข Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
โ€ข Gain a clear understanding of all data, fields and objects being reported on. Own the data.
โ€ข Flexibility is required to accommodate evolving business objectives.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
โ€ข 5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or related roles.
โ€ข Advanced SQL experience with demonstrated ability to write and optimize complex queries.
โ€ข Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL data warehouses, or cloud-based analytics platforms.
โ€ข Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling.
โ€ข Solid understanding of basic accounting principles for financial report and dashboard building to include metrics such as Revenue Growth Rate, Profit Margin, EBITDA, Cash Flow from Operations, Working Capital Ratio, Debt-to-Equity Ratio, ROI, DSO, Inventory Turnover Ratio, Operating Expense Ratio, CAC, Churn Rate, ROA, Gross Profit Margin, and Capex to Revenue Ratio.
โ€ข Experience supporting rolling forecast models and financial planning cycles, including common forecasting formats such as 3+9 (Q1), 6+6 (Q2), and 9+3 (Q3), where actual financial results are combined with forecasted projections to maintain accurate year-end outlooks.
โ€ข Ability to analyze variances between actuals and projections, providing leadership with actionable insights to adjust spending, optimize resource allocation, and support informed business decision-making.
โ€ข Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
