Job Summary:
Current is a leading consumer fintech platform transforming financial access for everyday Americans with over five million members. They are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the design, implementation, scaling, and maintenance of their analytics and reporting infrastructure, focusing on data governance and enabling self-serve analytics across the organization.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Develop and maintain enterprise-wide dashboards and reports in Looker for business and cross-functional teams.
โ€ข Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all BI and analytics layers.
โ€ข Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable analytics solutions.
โ€ข Optimize BI performance and data warehouse usage for speed, cost efficiency, and scalability.
โ€ข Define and enforce frameworks and best practices for dashboards, reporting, metric definitions, and data consumption.
โ€ข Design, build, and maintain core analytics datasets and dimensional data models to support reporting and decision-making.
โ€ข Build and support experimentation, funnel analysis, and measurement frameworks for key business initiatives.
โ€ข Mentor analysts and junior BI engineers to strengthen analytics capabilities and best practices.
โ€ข Conduct Looker office hours and training sessions to drive adoption and enablement.
โ€ข Enable self-serve analytics by improving data discoverability, documentation, and tooling.
โ€ข Partner with analytics engineering and data teams to ensure alignment between dbt models, ETL pipelines, and BI consumption.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or data modeling, with hands-on experience building and scaling analytics platforms.
โ€ข Strong experience with Looker / LookML development, visualization, and administration.
โ€ข Expert-level SQL skills and a deep understanding of dimensional data modeling and analytics-ready datasets.
โ€ข Experience partnering with dbt-modeled data and integrating with broader analytics engineering workflows.
โ€ข Strong understanding of data and BI governance, metric standardization, and self-serve analytics enablement.
โ€ข Comfortable owning and driving adoption of analytics platforms and data products, balancing immediate business needs with long-term maintainability.
โ€ข Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience with Looker or other business intelligence tools is preferred.
โ€ข Experience defining metric layers or semantic models at scale.
โ€ข Exposure to experimentation, funnel, and customer lifecycle analytics.
โ€ข Exposure to dimensional modeling concepts to power meaningful analytics.
โ€ข Prior experience running BI enablement sessions or office hours.
โ€ข Ability to visualize data effectively and communicate insights clearly and concisely.
โ€ข Experience modeling data using dbt.
โ€ข Familiarity with machine learning techniques and predictive analytics is a plus.
