Description
Serves as a key point of contact in the development, documentation and implementation of controls and processes. Create process narratives, flowcharts, risk/control mapping, and identification of design gaps. Assist with training new control/process owners regarding appropriate documentation and evidence of operating effectiveness for key SOX controls. Participate in walkthroughs of newly designed controls with internal and external audit teams.
Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA certificate preferred
• 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience required, Public accounting experience is preferred
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Strong working knowledge of SOX compliance and remediation requirements
• Understands business processes, process and IT controls and their impact on financial reporting
• Must combine attention to detail with the ability to envision the big picture
• Must have a high degree of proficiency in organization, planning and project management
• Requires outstanding ethical standards consistent with company policies, procedures and practices, etc.
• Proven ability to function in a team environment and act as a technical resource and provide information and training to others
• Strong PC Skills for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
• Excellent verbal skills, ability to apply group facilitation techniques and make group presentations
• Strong writing skills, including task documentation and report writing
• Proven ability to meet deadlines, including strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work and interact cross-functionally
Preferred:
• Experience in utility industry or related business environment
• Demonstrated background in applying analytical/accounting research skills
