Legal Secretary

Position Overview:

Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary to join our Los Angeles office. This person will need to have prior litigation secretarial experience in a law firm environment and possess strong organizational and communication skills. This role requires a team player who is flexible, detail-oriented, and able to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare court filings for state, federal, and appellate courts, including electronic and traditional filings.

  • Proofread and edit legal documents with attention to detail and grammar accuracy.

  • Create tables of authorities and contents for legal documents.

  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, court appearances, and attorney meetings.

  • Maintain attorney calendars and handle travel arrangements.

  • Open new files, conduct conflict of interest checks, and maintain client files.

  • Prepare and process bills, submit expenses, and assist with special projects as needed.

  • Work closely with administrative support staff and contribute to firm-wide team objectives.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of California and Federal court rules and procedures.

  • Minimum of three years of litigation legal secretary/ assistant experience in a law firm

  • Proficiency in ECF filings, File & ServeXpress, and other court filing procedures.

  • Advanced Word skills, including creating tables, bookmarking, and styling documents.

  • Strong proofreading and editing abilities, with a focus on accuracy and grammar.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with attorneys and co-workers.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Actual compensation will be negotiable based on factors including experience and skill set.
