Job description

Join Our Shipping Team

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Forklift Operator (Checker/Loader) to join our fast-paced shipping department. In this role, you will operate industrial forklifts to safely load and unload trailers, move materials throughout the facility, and ensure accurate shipment tracking for customer orders.

As part of a high-volume manufacturing operation, you will work alongside a dedicated team responsible for loading up to 25 trailers per day. This position offers opportunities for training, skill development, and cross-functional support across departments.

Note: This is a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and complete required safety checklists.
  • Safely load and unload trucks according to customer requirements and department standards.
  • Transport materials throughout the facility efficiently and safely.
  • Verify shipment counts, quantities, product descriptions, and quality standards.
  • Utilize RF scanners to process deliveries and returns.
  • Service production lines by delivering materials and finished products as needed.
  • Properly palletize and stretch-wrap products for shipment.
  • Complete shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation accurately and on time.
  • Conduct inventory counts and cycle counts as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse, loading docks, and equipment.
  • Safely change forklift propane tanks and/or batteries when necessary.
  • Assist other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills, including working with decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when needed.
Preferred
  • Previous forklift experience in a high-volume manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Forklift certification within the last 12 months (training available for qualified candidates).
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify or troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Experience using RF scanners, inventory systems, or warehouse management software.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs throughout the shift.
  • Ability to operate a forklift in both forward and reverse directions safely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
