Our Software Services team is on the forefront of this work, emboldening our culture by seeking out determined, innovative individuals who will join our team to help move us forward and achieve our mission.

The General Motors Global IT Organization is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities as a Senior Systems Configurator - SAP Functional Analyst to design, configure, and support SAP solutions that enable our end-to-end value chain across:

  • Source-to-Deliver / Source-to-Pay (Supply Chain & Direct Material Sourcing and Procurement for Automotive)
  • Make-to-Ship (Manufacturing & Plant Operations)
  • Order-to-Delivery (Order Management & Distribution)

This requisition is intentionally broad across SAP specialties, including but not limited to SD, FI-CO, MM, PP, WM, EWM, Ariba Direct Material Sourcing and Procurement for Automotive, and S/4HANA. You do not need experience in all of the areas listed; we are seeking strong SAP talent across one or more of these modules and encourage candidates to apply even if their expertise is focused in specific domains.

Location: Warren, MI or Austin, TX

The Role

As an SAP Functional Analyst, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Product Lifecycle Management, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain (GPSC), Manufacturing, Logistics, and Order Management to gather requirements and to design, configure, and support SAP solutions that meet business needs across the Source-to-Deliver, Make-to-Ship, and Order-to-Delivery spaces. You will implement scalable SAP processes, ensure solutions align with industry best practices and GM's IT Solution Delivery Methodology, optimize business operations, support and extend SAP modules, drive process improvements through automation and standardization, and help design and build new SAP-based landscapes that transform how work is done today. You will:

  • Translate business needs into robust, integrated SAP configurations and functional designs.
  • Optimize business operations in areas such as Order Management, Pricing, Billing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement, Purchasing, Production Planning & Execution, Warehousing, and Master Data.
  • Support GM's journey to S/4HANA and SaaS-first solutions, helping rationalize and modernize the SAP and surrounding application landscape.

What You'll Do

  • Lead SAP configuration and solution design for core business processes such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Production Planning & Execution, and related workflows.
  • Oversee financial postings, cost allocations, and supplier collaboration as they relate to your SAP functional domains.
  • Support sourcing, procurement, supplier management, production planning, logistics, inventory control, warehouse management, and goods movement processes.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver SAP solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with GM standards.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of SAP enhancements and new functionalities; ensure strong end-to-end process validation.
  • Support integration of SAP with external systems, partnering with integration and infrastructure teams.
  • Help evaluate and rationalize the existing manufacturing, supply chain, and order management application landscape, determining which solutions are integrated with, absorbed into, or retired in favor of SAP S/4HANA and related SAP SaaS solutions.
  • Participate in SAP upgrades, migrations, and digital transformation initiatives, including S/4HANA and cloud/SaaS adoption.
  • Apply standard SAP functionality to meet business needs, minimizing custom development while still addressing critical gaps via RICEFW objects.
  • Contribute to application management and production support, including issue triage, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement in your functional areas.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, configuration guides, and training materials to support adoption and reuse.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in SAP solution delivery, testing, and operations.
  • Adhere to organizational IT standards, security protocols, and industry best practices, including relevant regulatory and internal control requirements.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Computing, Information Systems, Supply Chain) or equivalent experience.

- Strong understanding of SAP principles and extensibility approaches, including how to design upgrade-safe, cloud-compliant solutions.

- Solid business process knowledge in areas such as Order Management, Pricing, Billing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement, Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehousing, and Master Data.

- Experience supporting integration with other SAP modules and external systems, including familiarity with common interface technologies (e.g., IDocs, APIs, middleware).

- Familiarity with software testing, automation, and quality assurance practices; ability to define and execute test plans and support automated/regression testing.

- Ability to debug and analyze SAP systems, preferably with some ABAP knowledge to support issue analysis and collaboration with development teams.

- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to diagnosing issues and proposing options.

- Strong commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and integrity, including willingness to learn new SAP and cloud capabilities.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

- SAP certification in one or more relevant modules (e.g., SD, MM, PP, WM/EWM, FI-CO, Ariba, S/4HANA).

- Experience with SAP Automotive Suite or similar industry-specific solutions supporting OEMs, suppliers, or complex manufacturing.
