Job description

GRADE: 59
SALARY: $14.23/hour
The Sampson County Exposition Center is hiring for the position of Exposition Center Custodian. This role is responsible for keeping the building in clean and orderly condition. Responsibilities include but are not limited to cleaning and maintaining floors; deep-cleaning rugs; washing walls and glass; cleaning and restocking restrooms; moving furniture as needed; disposing of trash and recyclables; using cleaning solutions in accordance with safety procedures; and operating industrial cleaning equipment.
Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must be self-motivated, adaptable and work independently.
Work hours for this position are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8am-5pm and on Fridays from 12pm-5pm.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of custodial and facility maintenance practices, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and power tools. Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment, perform routine maintenance tasks, maintain building cleanliness and safety, and lift or move materials weighing up to 60 pounds. Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently while following established safety procedures and maintaining a clean, secure, and well-maintained facility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in janitorial or custodial work, with demonstrated knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and facility maintenance practices. Experience with industrial cleaning equipment, chemical handling, and basic maintenance or repair tasks is strongly preferred.
A valid driver's license for the State of North Carolina is required.
