If so, the Sampson County Department of Social Services is looking for you to join our team as a Foster Care Social Worker III!
About the Role:
As a Foster Care Social Worker III, you will:
  • Provide specialized child welfare services in Foster Care, Permanency Planning, and Independent Living Services for children in DSS custody (ages newborn to 21).
  • Work closely with families, foster parents, legal representatives, and community partners to create safe and supportive environments for children.
  • Assess and implement intervention strategies to address medical, behavioral, and psychosocial needs.
  • Advocate for children's well-being by ensuring compliance with state and federal policies, attending court proceedings, and developing permanency plans.
  • Share responsibility for on-call duties, responding to urgent needs as required.

What You Bring:
We're looking for someone with a(n):
  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices for complex casework and crisis intervention.
  • Strong understanding of family dynamics, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to establish trust and build effective relationships with children, families, and community partners.
  • Excellent communication skills to advocate for children and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License and willingness to travel as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
