Sales Manager

The Sales Manager manages the activities of all sales staff, ensuring sales targets and customer service levels are achieved. This individual is responsible for training, cross-training, and developing all sales staff.

  • The Sales Manager reports to the General Sales Manager.
  • The Sales Manager directly manages Lot Attendants and Sales Representatives.

Job Description:

Essential Functions -

  • Sales Process Management
    • Hold sales representatives accountable forsales process and customer experience to ensure vehicle sales goals are attained.
    • Use the daily work plan in DealerSocket to manage the sales staff's daily activities and ensure they meet sales volume and productivity goals.
    • Ensure salespeople engage directly with customers when there isn't enough sales coverage.
    • Walk the lot daily with the sales team to ensure they are knowledgeable about vehicle pricing and the excellent condition of the inventory, advertising, banners, website, and area grounds.
  • Sales Staff Recruiting, Training and Development
    • Train sales staff daily using meeting-in-a-box, role-play, storyboards, product demonstrations, and product quizzes to ensure all are well-versed in the sales process and manufacturer product knowledge.
    • Develop effective sales staff by communicating expected performance standards, monitoring performance, identifying development needs, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Ensure all customers are greeted promptly in a professional and friendly manner.
    • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Assist Sales Representatives with customers when needed to ensure the sale of the vehicles.
    • Remain aware of all customers on the lot and ensure their customer buying experience is progressing as expected.
  • Track ad sourcing by communicating with customers to identify what brought them to the store.

Performance Measurements & Expectations -

  • Sales Per Salesperson- 10 units sold per person
  • Manufacturer Sales Requirement - 110% of store goal or SFE/D2E (to be presented monthly)
  • F&I - $1,800 minimum
  • Sales Satisfaction Index (CSI)- 100% or greater of MFG's zone group average
  • Sales Gross Profit- $3,500 minimum per sold unit average
  • Sales Associate Retention Rate- (6 months)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk, and hear
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may incidentally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch, lift weight, or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds
