Job description


PlainsCapital Bank is seeking to hire a Merchant Services Representative. The Merchant Services Representative is responsible for the development of new merchant services business, the expansion of existing bank business relationships, and the servicing of existing customers primarily in the area of merchant services. This position will serve as a merchant services point of contact and provide basic advisory services, with a focus on sales.
Responsibilities
  • Generates sales calls and leads with prospective and existing merchants to sell and support credit card processing and other optional services.
  • Communicates in a clear and succinct manner using multiple platforms.
  • Develops and maintains proficiency in the changing environment of payment processing in order to set-up merchants, provide training, and download terminals.
  • Develops and maintains ability to analyze merchant statements to determine pricing options and provide client direction.
  • Prepares, delivers, and presents proposals to prospective and existing merchants.
  • Maintains detailed records, reports, and logs pertaining to merchant referrals.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding and knowledge of compliance and risk issues to escalate to management as appropriate.
  • Answers questions regarding merchant services from customers and internal contacts.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent required.
  • 2 or more years of B2B (business-to-business) sales experience and/or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent training in business or sales management in lieu of degree) required.
  • Previous experience in merchant services or banking/financial services strongly preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong business development, sales, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and personal skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing, presentations and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
