Job description

Join a Growing Industrial Solutions Team
Dearing Compressor & Pump is seeking a motivated and technically driven Applications Engineer to join our Distributed Products team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining engineering, customer interaction, project coordination, and technical problem-solving in a fast-paced industrial environment.
In this position, you will work directly with customers, sales teams, vendors, and internal departments to develop engineered solutions for compressed air systems, vacuum systems, blowers, chillers, and related industrial equipment. You will play a key role in supporting projects from concept and quotation through order management, equipment delivery, and customer follow-up.

What You'll Do
  • Develop engineered solutions and proposals for compressed air, vacuum, blower, and chiller systems
  • Size and select equipment based on customer applications and operating requirements
  • Support customers and sales teams with technical recommendations and application guidance
  • Create and manage orders within the company ERP system
  • Issue vendor purchase orders and coordinate equipment procurement and delivery schedules
  • Manage projects from quotation through shipment and customer delivery
  • Perform onsite compressed air system studies using data logging equipment
  • Analyze system performance data and develop customer reports with efficiency and energy-saving recommendations
  • Present findings and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, manufacturing, service, and supply chain teams
  • Provide technical training and product support to internal teams and customers
  • Participate in customer visits, plant audits, and industry trade shows

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred
  • Experience in application engineering, industrial equipment, technical sales support, or a related field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer interaction skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret technical information and create professional reports and proposals
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits and field support

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with compressed air systems, vacuum systems, blowers, chillers, or industrial process equipment
