Position Summary

The System Sales Applications Engineer - Intralogistics is responsible for providing pre-sales technical leadership and applications engineering support for Regal Rexnord's Intralogistics system solutions. This role partners closely with the Intralogistics sales team, and operations to translate customer requirements into winning technical solutions, system concepts, proposals, and estimates. The successful candidate brings a strong understanding of material handling and intralogistics workflows (conveyance, sortation, accumulation, pallet handling, warehouse automation interfaces) and can rapidly develop system concepts, perform equipment sizing, create BOMs and cost models, and support proposal development through order conversion.

This position is a critical technical interface with customers and internal stakeholders and plays a key role in ensuring solutions meet performance, safety, quality, and delivery expectations while supporting profitable growth for ASBU.

This is a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere within the United States.

Key Accountabilities / Essential Functions

Pre-Sales Applications Engineering & Solution Development

- Engage with customers, integrators, and internal sales to define system requirements, performance criteria, constraints, and success measures.

- Develop conceptual system designs (layouts, operating descriptions, control narratives at a high level, throughput assumptions, and equipment selection) aligned to customer needs.

- Perform preliminary engineering calculations and equipment sizing (e.g., conveyor sizing, motor/drive selection, accumulation logic assumptions, capacity/throughput checks).

- Build system Bills of Material (BOM), scope-of-supply definitions, and technical clarifications to support accurate proposals.

- Develop labor/installation assumptions, risk and opportunity assessments, and cost estimates to support quotation accuracy and margin targets.

- Lead/participate in technical reviews, design-to-cost discussions, and bid strategy sessions to improve win rate and profitability.

Proposal & Customer Technical Support

- Create and/or review proposal technical content: system descriptions, compliance statements, assumptions, exclusions, and performance commitments.

- Present solutions to customers (virtual and onsite), including system concepts, value proposition, and technical differentiators.

- Support contract review by ensuring alignment between offered scope, technical requirements, and internal execution capability.

- Collaborate with Sales to respond to RFQs/RFPs, technical questionnaires, and clarification cycles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Handover to Execution

- Coordinate with engineering, controls, manufacturing/operations, sourcing, and project management to validate feasibility, lead times, and execution plans.

- Support orderly project handoff (scope, assumptions, design basis, risks, and commercial/technical commitments).

- Provide limited post-award technical support to execution teams when needed to protect scope integrity and customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement & Market/Portfolio Feedback

- Capture voice-of-customer and competitive insights; provide feedback to product management and leadership on gaps, trends, and growth opportunities.

- Standardize estimating tools, proposal templates, and solution modules to reduce cycle time and improve quoting consistency.

- Promote and model Regal Rexnord's safety culture and ensure solutions consider applicable safety standards, guarding, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline OR equivalent experience in intralogistics systems applications.

- 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, system sales engineering, solutions development, or design/estimating in material handling/intralogistics.

- Working knowledge of intralogistics equipment and system interactions (e.g., conveyor modules, sortation concepts, accumulation, pallet handling, merges/diverts, transfers).

- Strong customer-facing communication skills: ability to translate operational needs into technical solutions and present them clearly.

- Experience developing cost estimates, BOMs, and scope documents for engineered systems.

- Proficiency with common engineering/office tools (e.g., Excel-based costing, PowerPoint proposals, layout review tools such as AutoCAD/2D layout viewers or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting integrators, distribution centers, e-commerce fulfillment, parcel, or manufacturing intralogistics operations.

- Familiarity with controls concepts and interfaces (basic PLC/I/O architecture awareness, control narratives, sensor/actuator fundamentals).

- Exposure to throughput modeling, simulation, or capacity analysis tools (as available in the business).

- Experience with CRM and quoting/ERP tools (e.g., Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

- Knowledge of relevant safety and compliance expectations for material handling systems (guarding concepts, risk assessment awareness).
