How much do salaried insurance jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 10, 2026, the average yearly pay for salaried insurance in the United States is $88,115.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $72,500.00 and $100,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How does a salaried insurance role differ from commission-based positions in terms of responsibilities and work environment?

In a salaried insurance role, professionals typically focus on providing client support, processing claims, or underwriting policies rather than direct sales. The work environment is often more stable, with set hours and predictable income, as opposed to the variances of commission-based roles. Collaboration with other departments, such as claims adjusters and underwriters, is common, and the emphasis is on customer service and policy administration. This structure can also offer clearer pathways for advancement into supervisory or specialized positions within the company.

What are salaried insurance jobs?

Salaried insurance jobs are positions within the insurance industry where employees receive a fixed, regular salary rather than being paid on commission. These roles can include positions such as underwriters, claims adjusters, insurance analysts, and customer service representatives. Employees in salaried insurance jobs typically have stable incomes and may also receive benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave. Unlike commission-based agents, salaried workers focus on administrative, operational, or analytical tasks that support the insurance business.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Salaried Insurance professional, and why are they important?

To excel as a Salaried Insurance professional, you generally need a solid understanding of insurance products, risk assessment, and relevant regulations, often supported by a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with insurance management systems, CRM software, and often industry certifications like Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) are typical requirements. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail help build client trust and effectively handle claims or policies. These competencies are crucial for ensuring compliance, providing excellent customer service, and achieving organizational goals in a competitive industry.
