POSITION SUMMARY

The role of a Sage Intacct Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is to manage a portfolio of clients that have been transitioned from the Account Executive who originally sold the client or from management. The SAM will assume primary ownership of the client relationship while continuing to work closely with the Account Executive to ensure a smooth transition and a strong, ongoing partnership. The focus of this role is on sales growth, retention, and strategic business development within an assigned client portfolio.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Relationship Management/Strategic Sales & Account Growth

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all assigned Sage Intacct clients.
  • Foster ongoing relationships that promote customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term value.
  • Identify and qualify upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities across the Sage Intacct ecosystem.
  • Develop strategic account plans to drive revenue growth and maximize product adoption.
  • Present product enhancements, additional modules, and complementary solutions that align with client needs.
  • Contract negotiations and manage renewal cycles

Onboarding & Transition Support

  • Set expectations with clients around ongoing support, strategic planning, and communication cadence.
  • Participate in kickoff calls, implementation escalations, or early-stage client touchpoints when needed.

Business Development & Strategic Advisory

  • Conduct periodic business reviews to assess client health, product utilization, and future requirements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to finance leaders, offering insights and recommendations related to process improvement and system optimization.
  • Leverage knowledge of industry trends and Sage Intacct capabilities to help clients achieve operational excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work proactively with Customer Support, Professional Services, Product, and Finance teams to ensure consistent client experience.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, resolve escalations, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Advocate internally for customer needs and communicate product or service feedback to relevant teams.

Tracking, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely account notes, opportunity pipelines, and forecasting data in CRM systems.
  • Track client lifecycle milestones, risk indicators, and renewal timelines.
  • Report account performance insights and growth strategies to leadership as needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in customer success, strategic account growth or similar role.
  • Knowledge of business development strategies and sales techniques.
  • Understanding of customer success and retention strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage C-suite financial leaders
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations, negotiate effectively and maintain professionalism

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED
