Job description

Job Title: Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Temporary)Job Description

This role supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, including material handling equipment and pneumatic systems. You will diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently throughout the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and document all work accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to identify electrical faults and verify proper operation of equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Track, manage, and store department inventory, ensuring parts and supplies are available for maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across the operations facility to support smooth coordination of maintenance activities.
  • Move and lift equipment and materials up to 49–50 pounds as needed to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, as required to support operations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Access equipment in various locations by reaching above head, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, and crouching to install or move equipment.
  • Move between departments, floors, and properties, walking approximately 6 to 12 miles per day to facilitate maintenance work.
  • Use a computer and related systems, including typing at a computer or stand-up desk for 1–2 hours per day to complete documentation and work orders.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • At least 2 years of experience repairing material handling equipment.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • At least 1 year of experience applying electrical and electronic principles in a maintenance or industrial environment.
  • Ability to use a multimeter safely and effectively for troubleshooting and verification.
  • Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching above head, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, and crouching for installation and repair work.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Capability to work in environments with fluctuating temperatures while wearing required personal protective equipment such as masks, face shields, and composite-toed boots.
  • Basic proficiency with documentation and completing paperwork related to maintenance activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical fields.
  • At least 2 years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a Mechanical or Electrical field.
  • Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and safety standards.
  • Project management experience, including planning and coordinating maintenance or improvement projects.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, maintenance history, and inventory.
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated systems.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance best practices in industrial or distribution settings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

The position requires frequent movement between departments, floors, and properties, with walking distances of approximately 6 to 12 miles per day. Physical activities include lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching overhead, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, and crouching to access equipment. You will regularly use tools such as multimeters and work with computers and a Computerized Maintenance Management System for 1–2 hours per day to complete documentation and manage work orders. Personal protective equipment, including masks, face shields, and composite-toed boots, is required as part of the standard dress code and safety practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenfield, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
