Summer Intern - Robotics Technician - Indianapolis, IN

Allegion is looking for a Robotics Technician intern to join us for the summer of 2027! This intern will be responsible for developing and maintaining processes for robots in our fabrication department. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment, this is the role for you. Successful candidates will have some prior experience in manufacturing. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and operators in operations, maintenance, materials, and engineering to learn how we maintain and improve our processes, and to develop hands-on skills in process capability analysis and improvement. This role will be a fulltime summer internship (12 weeks) based at our Indianapolis Exits facility.

What You Will Do:

  • Program Industrial Robots
  • Develop Robotic process within the fabrication department.
  • Establish base line & maintain on-going measurements related to robot productivity.
  • Problem solves robotic and robotic cell issues.
  • Recommend, evaluate, and implement process changes.
  • Participate in Engineering in installation of new robotic processes.
  • Keep abreast of the latest programming techniques and recommend new processes and technology.
  • Optimize robot programming and analysis of part movement through process.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Working towards Robotics Technology degree or Computer Integrated Manufacturing degree preferred.
  • Training and experience in multi-axis robots, robot maintenance, robotic programming, and PLC Ladder Logic programming required.
  • Working knowledge of motor controllers preferred.
  • Working knowledge of proper use of abrasive products preferred.
  • In addition, you ideally bring an ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete duties within specified times, but if not, we will happily provide the training and support you need to be successful
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude; able to manage multiple small tasks under supervision
  • Willingness to collaborate cross-functionally and support teams in a hands-on capacity in a manufacturing environment.
