We set up boutique “buying events” at various hotel locations throughout the region, where folks come to sell us their estate items - primarily gold, silver, coins, and watches.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Inventory Manager to oversee inventory operations across multiple business channels, including wholesale, e-commerce, and marketplace platforms such as eBay and Whatnot. This role will play a critical part in building scalable inventory processes, improving operational consistency, and supporting the implementation and ongoing management of a new inventory system within Salesforce.

This position reports into Accounting while working closely day-to-day with operational and sorting teams. Success in this role will require strong relationship-building skills, the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and the confidence to provide thoughtful pushback when needed to maintain inventory accuracy and operational standards.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a fast-paced operational environment and helping create structure as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile inventory related to gold, precious metals, and other high-value products
  • Support the implementation, organization, and ongoing management of a new Salesforce-based inventory system
  • Develop scalable inventory processes and operational workflows to improve organization, visibility, and accountability
  • Create and maintain systems that ensure products are accurately tracked, stored, and easily locatable
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Operations, and Sorting teams to maintain inventory accuracy and reporting consistency
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate inventory variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Establish operational standards and process improvements that support company growth
  • Provide clear communication and collaborative problem-solving across departments
  • Balance relationship-building with the ability to professionally challenge or push back when necessary to protect process integrity and operational accuracy

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of inventory management, inventory control, operations, or related experience required
  • Experience supporting e-commerce, wholesale, or marketplace-driven inventory environments strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with inventory reconciliation and operational reporting required
  • Experience working with high-value inventory, precious metals, or similar asset-sensitive products preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar inventory/inventory management systems required
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to build scalable processes and improve workflows
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities across multiple departments
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on operational environment
  • Ability to balance collaboration with accountability and process enforcement
  • Self-starter mentality with a willingness to roll up sleeves and solve problems proactively

Work Environment

  • Primarily on-site role based in Hoffman Estates / South Barrington
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Accounting, Operations, and Sorting teams
  • Fast-paced operational and inventory-driven environment focused on scalability and continuous improvement

The Heartland Roadshow is committed to a fair, respectful, and inclusive hiring process, evaluating candidates based on their experience and alignment with the role.
