Job description

Role Overview
Goldman Sachs Custody Solutions is seeking a seasoned Vice President (VP) to lead the strategic vision, commercialization, and end-to-end execution of our Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) Custody Product, Managed Accounts Platform (including Separately Managed Accounts/SMAs and Unified Managed Accounts/UMAs), and Alternative Assets Custody offering.
Sitting at the center of the wealth management ecosystem, this senior leader will have comprehensive ownership of the platform's growth, commercial strategy, and operating infrastructure. The SVP will drive the product roadmap, lead high-value relationships with third-party SMA managers, Turnkey Asset Management Programs (TAMPs), Third Party Alternative investment platforms and elite RIA firms. Crucially, this role will oversee the onboarding, custody, and operational lifecycle of alternative assets (including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real estate), ensuring a seamless, institutional-grade experience for our clients.
This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record of scaling wealth-tech platforms, managing complex product portfolios, and driving commercial monetization and custody strategies in the RIA custody, managed accounts, and alternative investments space.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Platform Vision
  • Define Platform Strategy: Establish and execute the long-term strategic vision for the RIA custody platform, the integrated Managed Accounts (SMA/UMA) ecosystem, and the Alternative Assets custody framework to maintain market competitiveness and drive asset growth.
  • Commercialization & Monetization: Design and implement strategies to increase platform adoption, deepen RIA relationships, and generate incremental revenue through new products, pricing models, lending against alternative assets, and strategic partnerships.
  • Business Case Development: Lead financial analyses, market sizing, and competitive benchmarking to evaluate strategic investments and build robust business cases for platform expansion.

2. Key Relationship Management & Client Transitions
  • Executive Relationship Ownership: Serve as the senior relationship owner for a portfolio of strategic SMA managers, TAMP partners and alternative asset managers.
  • High-Touch Onboarding & Transitions: Oversee the end-to-end onboarding of new managers, complex RIA transitions, and alternative asset fund structures, ensuring seamless operational readiness, model delivery setup, and go-live execution.
  • Senior Product Specialist: Act as the primary executive product voice in front of key clients, prospects, and industry forums-leading platform overviews, alternative asset capabilities, manager deep-dives, and high-level sales presentations.

3. Product Development & Roadmap Ownership
  • Roadmap Governance: Own the comprehensive product roadmap for RIA Custody, Managed Accounts, and Alternative Assets, prioritizing capabilities such as model delivery, custom fee structures, tax management, and third-party alternative platform integrations.
  • Alternative Asset Product Innovation: Drive the development of digital-first alternative asset custody capabilities, including automated subscription document processing, AML/KYC workflows, capital call/distribution tracking, and consolidated reporting.
  • Requirements & Execution: Translate complex advisor feedback and market trends into scalable platform capabilities, partnering closely with Engineering and Technology to ensure precise execution.
  • Agile Project Management: Oversee cross-functional project plans, manage dependencies, and direct the prioritization of product enhancements and technology development.

4. Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Governance
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Align and coordinate operations, trading, and client service teams to ensure accounts, managed platforms, and alternative asset custody processes run to institutional standards.
  • Alternative Asset Operational Excellence: Establish robust, scalable operational and due diligence workflows for alternative asset custody, including streamlined asset onboarding, valuation updates, and position reconciliation.
  • Escalation & Issue Resolution: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for platform and alternative asset operational issues, driving root-cause analysis and implementing scalable process improvements.
  • Risk, Compliance, & Governance: Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to manage contracting, ongoing oversight obligations, and platform policies, ensuring full alignment with regulatory frameworks and qualified custodian rules.
  • KPI & Performance Tracking: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (AUM, net flows, model delivery timeliness, alternative asset onboarding cycle times, error rates) to measure platform health and drive partner remediation when necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of experience in RIA custody, asset management, or wealth technology, with direct expertise in SMAs, UMAs, model delivery, or alternative asset custody infrastructure (private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real estate).
  • Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in a highly matrixed financial services environment.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the economics of custody, managed accounts, and alternative investments, with a demonstrated ability to drive platform monetization and business growth.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the credibility to influence C-suite executives, sophisticated advisors, and external partners.
  • Strategic & Analytical Mindset: Ability to balance high-level strategic planning with a hands-on approach to operational execution, risk management, and platform governance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credentials preferred.
